This conference call will address the reimbursement and funding of quitline services using health plan and employer-based strategies. A new NAQC white paper on third party reimbursement for quitlines will be presented by authors, Michele Patarino and Claire Brockbank. The white paper summarizes work completed for a Robert Wood Johnson funded project which assessed the current reimbursement and funding practices of quitlines, explored opportunities for obtaining third party support and developed recommended next steps to garner third party reimbursement for quitlines. Presenters will provide background on the health insurance market, review results of the NAQC reimbursement survey and follow up interviews with states, offer recommendations and next steps to move forward with third party reimbursement strategies. In addition, Donna Warner from Massachusetts and Todd Hill from Vermont will discuss their experiences in more detail and Ann Wendling will provide a brief overview of work completed to date for the Insurance and Reimbursement task group of the Multi-State Collaborative on Health Systems Change to Address Tobacco Use. The call will begin at 3:30 PM ET and end at 5:00 PM ET.
