Call for nominations for two new awards designed to honor
outstanding contributions to the treatment of tobacco use and dependence in the
United States. The awards are named to recognize the service of Dr. Benjamin K.
Chu as Legacy board chairman and board member. Legacy is the national nonprofit
public health charity with a history of producing game-changing initiatives
that have been proven to reduce tobacco use among young people and adults.
Nominations for each award will be accepted online at www.LegacyForHealth.org through
Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.
Benjamin K. Chu Tobacco Use and Dependence Breakthrough
The purpose of the Breakthrough award is to recognize an
individual or team of individuals who were most responsible for a significant
or sudden advance in tobacco use and dependence based on a development or
achievement in research, policy or systems that resulted in dramatic progress
over the status quo. The winning entry will document the effect of the
breakthrough and its link to reducing smokers’ addiction to tobacco products in
the United States.
Benjamin K. Chu Tobacco Use and Dependence Integration
The purpose of the Integration award is to recognize
a health care delivery system for its outstanding accomplishments in addressing
tobacco use and dependence in its practice as evidenced by positive outcomes.
The winning entry will serve as a leading-edge model of systems integration.
The award is limited to work conducted in the United States.
Please consider nominating deserving leaders who have made
outstanding contributions to further tobacco use and dependence treatment
either as a catalyst for a breakthrough in the field or for commitment to
integrating the practice of addressing tobacco in a health care delivery
