Today, we're launching a national campaign and mobile-friendly website to help you and other health-minded advocates find and support Tobacco-Free Retailers across the country! Be one of the first to see it at ShopTobaccoFree.org and join us in calling on retailers to go tobacco-free.
The new site provides an interactive map of tobacco-free retailers in your community and provides retailers and consumers with an array of resources, including store window stickers and a social media toolkit to help spread awareness of the initiative. There's even a tool that connects you with retailers to either thank them for being tobacco-free or to ask them to become so.
Last month, CVS took a truly historic step to reduce tobacco use – the nation’s number one cause of preventable death – when it stopped selling tobacco products. Unfortunately, there's still an estimated 375,000 retailers that still sell tobacco products in the U.S. They do so despite the fact tobacco use kills 480,000 Americans and costs the country at least $289 billion in health care costs and lost productivity each year.
Imagine the impact of retailers such as Walmart, Walgreens and Rite Aid going tobacco-free? You can help make that happen!
Thanks for standing with us in this new campaign!
