Highlights of NAQC Progress and Membership Drive Announcement for 2015/2016!

Dear NAQC members,

I hope all of you are doing well and staying warm during the final weeks of a very snowy winter!
 
NAQC’s membership drive for 2015/2016 begins today, on February 24, and I would like to share a brief recap of the highlights from the last year, updates on the work ahead, and provide you with important membership renewal information.
 
HIGHLIGHTS OF NAQC WORK.  In the past year, NAQC has released a number of important resources to help support your work:
  • A Variety of Tools for Public-Private Partnership Development. The resources have been developed to provide states with the knowledge, resources, and technical assistance to successfully establish cost-sharing partnerships:
    • Table summarizing progress of 11 states on developing public-private partnerships  
    • Progress report on states advancing cessation coverage and quitline sustainability 
    • Other resources for assessing the level of cessation coverage in the states and developing partnerships 
  • A Variety of Resources for Establishing eReferralNAQC’s eReferral workgroup has developed ten case studies that describe the progress made by state quitlines, their service providers, healthcare institutions and EHR vendors who participate in the  workgroup. An issue paper (2012) is included on the webpage and a technical guideline will be posted this spring!
  • Webinar SeriesNAQC has covered several topics in the past few months and the webinar materials are now available online.
UPDATES ON WORK AHEAD. The future holds many opportunities and challenges for the quitline community, including important national policy changes like the Affordable Care Act in the U.S. and responding to new tobacco and nicotine products like e-cigarettes.  NAQC is committed to supporting members in their efforts by facilitating dialogue, developing evidence based reports and strategies, offering webinars and other types of technical assistance, and strengthening cessation policy. Below is an outline of resources that will be available to members in the coming months:
  • Annual Survey 2013 Benchmarking Data and Findings (RSVP for the call here)
  • New Issue Paper – An Update on Quit Rate Calculations (spring 2015)
  • New MDS questions on e-cigarettes (summer 2015)
  • New Issue Paper - Standards and Guidelines for Quitline Services (fall 2015)
  • New Resources for Public-Private Partnership Development (summer 2015)
  • New Resources for Medicaid Match Assistance (summer 2015)
  • New Technical Guideline on eReferral (spring 2015)
  • Two Webinars in spring and summer
UPDATE ON MEMBERSHIP DRIVE. Please keep the following important membership dates in mind:

Late February  – launch of the membership drive and distribution of invoices
June 30 – last day to renew your membership dues
July 1 – beginning of the 2015/2016 membership year

I would like to thank all of you for your many contributions to NAQC, not only through membership dues but also through the expertise you provide to NAQC projects and the time you make available to serve on working groups, the Advisory Council and the Board. Your participation is the key to our success!
