Deadline of April 15 - Opportunity for Those with a TTS Certificate to Get an NCTTP Certificate With

Thursday, February 8, 2018
Posted by: Natalia Gromov

NAQC would like to make sure that the quitline community is aware of the new National Certificate in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP) offered by NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals, and the Association for Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD).

The NCTTP was created to standardize and unify tobacco competencies, knowledge, and skills on a national level and provides national, unified recognition of professionals who obtain this certificate. By obtaining the NCTTP, tobacco treatment professionals are demonstrating to employers, third-party payers, and clients their advanced education in evidence-based tobacco competencies, skills, and practice.

To apply for the national certificate, candidates must have completed the training and evaluation components of a Tobacco Treatment Training program accredited by the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (www.ctttp.org). Specific eligibility and application requirements may be found at https://www.naadac.org/NCTTP

A list of accredited Tobacco Treatment Specialist training programs may be found at http://ctttp.org/accredited-programs/.

NOTE: The initial test-exempt offering of this Certificate will be available until April 15, 2018. Applications postmarked after April 15, 2018 will require successful completion of an examination to be awarded the certificate.
