The Smoking Cessation Leadership Center is pleased to announce its next free webinar "Tobacco Use & Bipolar Disorder: Results from a Large Online Survey,” on June 28, 2011, at 2 pm Eastern Time (90 minutes). We are honored to have Judith J. Prochaska, Ph.D., M.P.H., Associate Professor in Residence, Department of Psychiatry, University of California, San Francisco, present on this valuable topic.
Epidemiologic studies estimate 70% of individuals diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder smoke cigarettes, yet little is known about their willingness to quit and cessation experiences. A Smoking and Mental Health Survey was conducted by the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), the nation's leading mood disorder peer support network, with support from the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center. This online survey examined tobacco use, quit attempts, tobacco-related attitudes and intentions among individuals diagnosed with Bipolar who smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their lifetime.
- Learn the methods and results of the large online survey
- Understand key findings and their applications to tobacco dependence interventions
- Learn how the study may inform development of more effective smoking cessation programs for people living with Bipolar Disorder
