Dear Colleagues,

Please see below for a call for proposals opportunity from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation regarding a Rural Learning and Coordinating Center: Advancing Health Equity Through Social and Economic Opportunity.  Deadline to submit Summary of Qualifications is May 22nd at 3pm ET.

Dear Friends of RWJF,

I am so pleased to share the attached call for proposals (CFP) for a Rural Learning and Coordinating Center: Advancing Health Equity Through Social and Economic Opportunity. Please consider submitting a summary of qualifications if appropriate and share with your networks.

RWJF’s Healthy Communities theme is interested in identifying and funding a Rural Learning and Coordinating Center will work alongside RWJF, rural communities, and others in the field committed to improving rural health equity and well-being. The Center will provide systematic learning and coordination across those working regionally and nationally to advance social and economic conditions in rural communities, which ultimately lead to better health and well-being. To this end, the Center will look to better connect the work happening to improve community conditions for health and equity in rural America, advance the research and evidence that can support this work, and identify policy and systems solutions that support change in rural places given their unique assets and challenges.

·         For full CFP information and resources see the CFP landing page

·         A single grant of up to $2 million will support this function for two years.

·         Deadline to submit Summary of Qualifications: 3pm ET, May 22

We also hope to see more rural proposals submitted in response to the various RWJF calls for proposals. Please monitor funding opportunities across RWJF, as we encourage proposals from rural stakeholders and on rural issues within the context of our funding opportunities, even when rural is not called out explicitly. For example, a few opportunities that are open right now include:

·         The Pioneering Ideas brief proposal opportunity, through which we seek to explore how cutting-edge ideas and emerging trends could help or hinder our progress toward a Culture of Health.

·         Evidence for Action: Investigator-Initiated Research to Build a Culture of Health, which supports research that yields findings about the population health, well-being and equity impacts of specific policies, programs and practices.

·         RWJF and WK Kellogg Foundation are seeking a partner to design and implement a Rural Leadership Pathways Learning Initiative, to increase our shared understanding about how people across diverse rural communities access leadership opportunities, forge alliances, build influence, and create positive change.

You can also check out our rural health page, highlighting various initiatives and resources related to rural health.
