Posted by: Natalia Gromov
On Thursday, June 26 from 12:30-2:00 PM ET NAQC will host a webinar titled,Integration of Tobacco Cessation Medications in State and Provincial Quitlines: Evidence, Current Practice and Recommendations for Progress.

NAQC’s most recent Quality Improvement Initiative Issue Paper,Integration of Tobacco Cessation Medications in State and Provincial Quitlines: A Review of the Evidence and Practice with Recommendations (2014 Update)provides a comprehensive review of the literature and practice related to the integration of tobacco cessation medications and quitline services that reflects additions to the evidence base and improvements in practice since the first publication (2009). The author discusses the major factors that must be considered in deciding if medications should be offered as part of quitline services, including such topics as cost-effectiveness analysis, choice of medication, determination of quantity of medication to provide and the method of distribution of medications that will be used. A new section on e-cigarettes appears in the update, as well as new content related to concurrent use in order to reflect the FDA’s new warning label regulations. Updated recommendations on key issues related to integration of medications into quitline services are also highlighted.

Join us in this webinar as the issue paper’s author, Ken Wassum, reviews the update and its recommendations to quitlines and two states share their experiences offering medications via their quitline. There will be ample time for questions and discussion.
