Dear Colleagues:

We hope 2015 is off to a good start! With a new year and a new Surgeon General, CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health believes it’s a great opportunity to come together to support people who want to quit smoking in 2015.

Each year, about half of cigarette smokers try to quit. Many likely made New Year’s resolutions to quit in 2015, and may need a helping hand as we reach the middle of January.

To help you promote cessation during January and beyond, we want to share some of our new social media materials, including new options on Pinterest. You may also want to highlight some of the Tips campaign’s ad participants who have shared their quit stories.

· Our Quitspiration Pinterest board is now live! Use these materials to help inspire you, your friends, family, and others to quit smoking and stay smokefree.

· Attached (here) are sample posts for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. The posts include images you can use to help increase engagement which you can find in this Facebook album accessible through the CDCTobaccoFree Facebook Page.

· Several Tips participant’s videos address cessation and are available for use. Two are:

We hope that you can use these materials in your own social media efforts, and that you will share them widely.

Thank you for all your hard work toward ending the suffering, disease, and death caused by tobacco. We look forward to working with you throughout 2015!
