Requesting your feedback on the opportunities & challenges of the ACA by October 15th!

Dear Colleagues,
I hope you are doing well. Staff here at NAQC sends best wishes to all of you, especially our colleagues who have been impacted by the recent hurricanes and tropical storms.
Over the past six months, staff has developed some thought papers regarding the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on quitlines. We have discussed the papers with the Board and Advisory Council and have gained their feedback. Now, we would like to share the papers with all of you and to ask for your feedback as well.
Although the scope of the ACA and its sustainability are dynamic (to say the least), we think it is important to begin creating a Consortium-wide consensus on what the ACA means for quitlines in terms of opportunities, challenges, and needed actions. The thought papers explore a few topics we think are especially important for the quitline community: I would like to ask that you do the following by October 15th:
  • First, select the paper topics that are of interest to you, and commit to read them by October 15th. You are welcome to read one, two, three or all four!
  • Provide your feedback on the two most important sections of the paper(s) you review – the proposed “goal” and the proposed “next steps for NAQC”. Let us know if you agree with these sections. You may also send any other comments you have.
  • Rank these four topics in terms of importance to you, and let us know if there is a topic you think we should eliminate or add.
Below is the URL to the feedback survey:

We plan to review all of the feedback and to share a summary of the results with you by the end of November. Depending on what we hear from you, we may also have a webinar or special meeting on one or all of the papers.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort. This is an important time for the quitline community, and we appreciate your good thinking and advice on how we should move forward.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns.
