Back to the Future: Envisioning the FDA's Impact on U.S. Tobacco Consumption by 2015

Wednesday, June 9, 2010
As the one-year anniversary of the passage of The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act nears, join Legacy for a thought-provoking, forward-looking discussion of the law, the programmatic and regulatory landscape and the impact of modified risk products on tobacco.

They'll examine what happens when a deadly product—tobacco—morphs into technical compliance; how the US Food and Drug Administration can maximize the opportunities that lie ahead and the myths and misperceptions of having FDA-regulated tobacco products.

A panel of experts will identify the markers for success over the course of the next five years as public health leaders work to reduce the number one preventable cause of death in the nation.

Opening Remarks by Cheryl G. Healton, Dr.PH. President and CEO, Legacy
Moderated by Stephenie Foster, Senior VP for Government Relations, Legacy

  • David Kessler, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Medicine, UCSF and Former Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration
