ALA Highlights Health Disparity in New Report on Tobacco Prevalence in LGBT Community

WHAT: The American Lung Association will host a press teleconference/webinar to highlight the contents of its new report, Smoking Out a Deadly Threat: Tobacco Use in the LGBT Community. The Lung Association will share research it compiled from various sources that shows a higher rate of tobacco use in the LGBT community. The organization will also present likely factors for this increased tobacco use rate and potential solutions to reduce or eliminate this health disparity.

WHY: Smoking Out a Deadly Threat: Tobacco Use in the LGBT Community is the second report in the Lung Association's Disparities in Lung Health Series, which takes an in-depth look at lung health disparities in specific populations.

The organization presents this report in an effort to raise awareness of this health disparity and the need for additional research specific to the LGBT community and tobacco use.
