The toolkit was developed for a broad continuum of public health care organizations and treatment facilities, particularly those organizations serving persons with mental illnesses and addictions. The materials are intended for administrators, direct providers, and support staff of organizations considering or implementing tobacco-free policies. The new toolkit can be found HERE.

2. The NCI Smokefree Teen iPhone app (QuitSTART) has been approved and is now available HERE free of charge in the Apple App Store. All three core resources for teen smoking cessation have now been launched:, SmokeFreeTXT and now the mobile app. The content and features will continue to be revised and improved across all three platforms during the next few months before these resources undergo a formal outcome evaluation beginning in early summer 2012. Until then any feedback tobacco advocates may have to help in the improvement process can be directed to Erik Augustson, at

3. In honor of Valentine’s Day the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health, as of February 6, will have updated several communication products that capitalize on themes of love, caring, and heart health. The products will be accessible via OSH’s Smoking & Tobacco Use Web site. For more information see below.
