FDA Hearing on NRT and Innovative Tobacco Cessation Treatments Scheduled for December 17

Greetings!
FDA will hold a public hearing on December
17, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Silver Spring, Maryland on
the topic of NRT and innovative tobacco cessation treatments. Anyone who
would like to present in-person must register by December 6. A live Web
cast of the public hearing will be available and a video recording will also be
made available. Highlights of the content of the meeting are provided below and
full details are available in the Federal Register Notice.
Topics that will be
considered at the public hearing include:
- Fast-track status for smoking
cessation products, including NRTs
- Extended use of NRTs for
treatment of tobacco dependence
- Additional indications for NRTs
such as craving relief and relapse prevention
- Report to Congress on how best
to regulate innovative products and treatments for tobacco
cessation, tobacco reduction and reduction in harm from tobacco use
