Tips From Former Smokers National Tobacco Education Campaign

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) launched the first-ever federally funded national tobacco education campaign—Tips From Former Smokers® (Tips®)—in March 2012. NAQC is proud to support the 2025 Tips® Campaign.

NAQC members who have questions or are seeking additional information on Tips, please contact naqc@naquitline.org.

NAQC maintains a library of monthly 1-800-QUIT-NOW call data reports. 1-800-QUIT-NOW is the national portal number that routes respective callers to their state quitline. NOTE: This is a U.S. number only.

More About Tips

The Tips campaign features more than 45 real people impacted by the serious long-term health effects from smoking and secondhand smoke exposure. Tips also shares stories from loved ones. They describe how taking care of someone living with a smoking-related condition has affected their own lives and health. The message is urgent: Now is the time to quit smoking, and free help is available.

Tips
ads run on broadcast and cable TV, streaming audio, digital, and social media platforms. We encourage NAQC members to leverage the national campaigns using CDC’s resources, including social media content, videos, print ads, buttons, and badges and other content tailored for specific audiences. The Tips campaign uses approaches to address health disparities by increasing the reach, representation, receptivity, and accessibility of smoking cessation messages.

From 2012–2018, CDC estimates that more than 16.4 million people who smoke attempted to quit and approximately 1 million successfully quit because of the Tips campaign. To read published articles about the impact of the Tips campaign, please visit the Tips Impact and Results web page.
