The Americans for Nonsmokers
Rights Foundation announced its quarterly update of smokefree laws in the
United States. View below for all the lists and maps by category including e-cigarette
laws, major US travel destination laws, and policies for college campuses,
hospitals, airports, MLB and NFL ballparks/stadiums, etc. Even beaches,
casinos, and zoos! ________________________________________________________________________________ The ANR Foundation is
pleased to announce our most recent quarterly update to the lists and
maps of U.S. municipalities and states with smokefree laws now in effect. Congratulations
to all the cities with new strong smokefree laws in effect, from
Satsuma, AL, to Sedalia, MO, to Stafford, TX.
See all of our updated lists here: http://www.no-smoke.org/lists.html
Check out our newest addition - a list of laws including e-cigarettes!
A total of 593 municipalities now have ordinances in effect for 100%
smokefree non-hospitality workplaces, restaurants, AND bars, along with 24 states, Puerto
Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington D.C. These strong laws now
protect 49.1% of
the U.S. population.
A total of 755 municipalities
have a local law in effect that requires both restaurants and bars
to be smokefree, along with 30 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin
Islands, and Washington D.C. These laws protect 65.0%
of the U.S. population.
Smokefree parks laws and, smokefree outdoor dining AND bar patio
laws all continued skyrocketing – find these updated lists and many, many other
lists and maps here: www.no-smoke.org/lists.html.
Did you expect to see your new law included, but
don't see it on our lists? That
is either because the law is not yet in effect, or because the law didn't
meet the smokefree list criteria for enclosed non-hospitality workplaces,
restaurants, bars, and/or gambling venues to be 100% smokefree without
exemptions. Still have questions? Please contact Laura Walpert at laura.walpert@no-smoke.org
American Indian and Alaska Native sovereign tribal laws are not reflected in
these lists and maps. But there are plenty out there! We are working with our
partners to make sure these laws are collected to eventually create a database
specific to laws in Native Communities.
The lists are updated on a quarterly basis. The next quarterly update will
be in January 2014. Please contact Holly Callahan for hard copies of these
lists at 510/841-3032 or at anr@no-smoke.org.
Please be sure to contact us if you have questions about our lists and maps,
and keep up the great smokefree progress everyone. We look forward to adding
many more smokefree laws to our lists and maps as the year progresses!
Only laws that are personally reviewed and analyzed by ANR Foundation
staff using standardized criteria are included in ANR Foundation's smokefree
lists. These reports, lists and maps are made possible, in part, by a grant
from Legacy. These materials do
not necessarily represent the views of Legacy, Legacy staff, or its Board of
Directors.
