Dear Colleague:
We have received several
inquiries regarding our plans to release a 50th Anniversary Surgeon General's
report on tobacco. The report will highlight 50 years of progress in
tobacco control and prevention, present new data on the health consequences of
smoking, and discuss scenarios that can potentially end the tobacco epidemic in
the United States.
We are still finalizing plans for the release of this 32nd
Surgeon General’s Report, which will take place in the latter half of January
2014 and will provide a further opportunity to celebrate how far we have come,
while also acknowledging that the battle against tobacco is not yet won.
We will keep you apprised of our plans for late January as
they develop and look forward to learning about the activities you have
planned. As our partners, you will play a critical role in commemorating the
anniversary as you spread the message through your outreach and events.

email updates. We also invite you to contact us at INFO2014SGR50@CDC.GOV if you have
general questions or want to share your plans for promoting this historic
anniversary. Source: CDC
