The QuitConnect project,
led by Drs. Jim Thrasher and Scott Strayer (University of South Carolina)
incoordination with NAQC, has completed a series of focus groups in order
to gain stakeholder perspectiveson the feasibility of creating a
nation-wide registry of smokersfor coordinated outreach and research
around continued engagement in smoking cessation. Three focus groups were
conducted, with 1) quitline service providers, 2) quitline funders and
administrators, and 3) researchers and national partners. The results
have been analyzed and the findings reported back to the NAQC QuitConnect workgroup.
A summary of the focus group results will follow shortly on the NAQC website.
Currently, the QuitConnectinformation technologyplatform is under
development, and the team is planning for an early May launch of the
websiteand a pilot study to recruit quitline callers to join the
QuitConnect community. For questions or additional information, please
