Implementation of NEW MDS Questions on ENDS & NEW Quit Rate Calculation Slated to Begin January 2016

Dear NAQC Members,
In October 2015, NAQC released two important updates:
Together, these two updates acknowledge the impact ENDS have had in the quitline community and provide quitlines with:
- STANDARD and OPTIONAL questions to assess for ENDS at Intake and Follow-up
- Recommendations for how to account for use of ENDS when calculating quit rates.
NACQ requests that quitlines implement the STANDARD MDS questions on ENDS at intake and follow-up beginning January 1, 2016. NAQC requests that quitlines use quit rate calculations detailed in the Calculating Quit Rate, 2015 Update, for evaluations beginning in 2016 and moving forward.
NAQC will being to collect information from the STANDARD MDS Intake and Follow-up questions on ENDS, as well as the new quit rate that accounts for use of ENDS in the FY2016 Annual Survey.
