The Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line’s Fax to Quit Program: Participant Satisfaction and Effectiveness Kobinsky KH, Redmond LA, Smith SS, Yepassis-Zembrou PL, Fiore MC. Wisconsin Medical Journal. 2010;109(2):79-86.
This study examined the satisfaction and short-term quit rates for callers referred through the Wisconsin Fax To Quit (FTQ) provider referral program as compared to callers referred through a non-FTQ provider referral group. Callers reported high levels of satisfaction (96.8% FTQ, 92.7% non-FTQ). FTQ respondents reported a statistically significantly higher 30-day quit rate (46.8%) as compared to non-FTQ respondents (32.7%). The authors conclude that fax referral has the potential to successfully link smokers visiting primary care clinics to the Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line.
