Telephone-Delivered Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Adult Smoking Cessation: A Feasibility Study. Bricker JB, Mann SL, Marek PM, Liu J, Peterson AV. Nicotine Tob Res. 2010 Apr;12(4):454-8. Epub 2010 Feb 8.
This small pilot study (14 adults in a single-arm study) assessed the feasibility of the first telephone-delivered Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) intervention for smoking cessation. Results showed improved outcomes over quitline quit rates as reported in meta-analyses. The authors conclude that telephone-delivered ACT shows promise for smoking cessation and warrants future testing in a well-powered randomized trial.
