FACT SHEET: Overview of Quitline Services for Those Who Vape

Wednesday, November 6, 2019
Posted by: Natalia Gromov
Dear Colleagues:

As you are aware, lung injuries related to vaping and THC have been identified by CDC as a national epidemic. NAQC is pleased to provide you with a summary of quitline services available to adults and youth who would like to quit vaping.  Our thanks to the states and to quitline service providers for sharing information on their evolving approaches to helping vapers quit.

Overall, state quitlines have been responsive to the current concerns regarding vaping, especially among youth and young adults. Over the past two months they have show leadership in researching, launching and scaling up their services to help support efforts to promote quitting not only among smokers but vapers as well.  Key topics for improving service offerings include: 1) continuing research on vaping cessation; 2) standardizing medication protocols; and 3) preventing relapse among youth.

Thanks to all of you for your commitment and work to help end the vaping epidemic. We hope this fact sheet is helpful to your cessation efforts and look forward to our continued collaborations!

Warm regards,
