Dear Colleagues,
Thank you to all members who participated in the recent election of the Board. I am pleased to announce that
Corinne M. Graffunder, DrPH, has been elected to the Board. Please join me in welcoming her as NAQC’s newly elected director. Dr. Graffunder is Associate Vice President for Domestic Non-Infectious Programs at the CDC Foundation leading a multi-million dollar portfolio that addresses chronic conditions and related risk factors including tobacco use. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2020, she held leadership positions in the CDC working for over 30 years to advance Global, national, state and local prevention efforts. As CDC’s Deputy Associate Director for Policy she led the development of the
National Prevention Strategy: America’s Plan for Better Health and Wellness. From 2015-2020 she directed the Office on Smoking and Health and was responsible for providing broad leadership and direction for all scientific, policy, and programmatic efforts related to tobacco control and prevention. In January 2020, she oversaw the release of
Smoking Cessation: A Report of the Surgeon General. She successfully expanded the message of the
Tips From Former Smokers® campaign, assisted state and local tobacco policy efforts to address persistent tobacco-use disparities and epidemic rates of e-cigarette use among youth and young adults and played a critical role in guiding OSH’s efforts in response to the national e-cigarette, or vaping, product-use associated lung injury (EVALI) outbreak. Additionally, she has an adjunct faculty appointment at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health, Indiana, teaching doctoral level courses in global health policy analysis and advocacy.
