NAQC is excited to partner with the American Dental Association (ADA) on a two-part webinar series and toolkit to help dental care teams leverage quitlines to help patients who use tobacco or vape access help to quit. Oral health professionals can play a key role in tobacco cessation by talking with patients, providing education, offering FDA-approved medications, and referring patients to state quitlines or other community resources.

We were glad to have NAQC partners join us this week for part one, Prevention Super Partners: Dental Care Teams & Quitlines, and hope you can join us for the second webinar in the series on August 3. ADA will make the webinar recordings available for a fee, and NAQC will share links to the archived sessions once available.

The webinars promote NAQC's quitline map, an interactive webpage featuring state-specific quitline details, including eligibility, services offered, referral programs, and state contact information. States should review their state profile to ensure dental teams and other partners can access up-to-date quitline information.

Part 2: Saving Smiles and Lives: Tools to Integrate Smoking Cessation into Practice

This webinar is the second in a two-part series on State QuitLines and will inform oral health professionals about leveraging their tobacco/vaping cessation services. Attendees will hear from the North American Quitline Consortium's CEO and staff and representatives from two state QuitLines. This webinar will highlight, in detail, the process for referring to QuitLines. Representatives from state quitlines will share local efforts and resources to help oral health professionals collaborate with quitlines. Information presented in this webinar will be featured in a pending American Dental Association publication, Tobacco & Vaping Cessation – Implementing & Fostering Quitline Referrals: A Guide for Oral Health Professionals, a toolkit to support referrals to State QuitLines by oral health professionals.
