Important Dates and Deadlines - The Board call for nominations will run from February 8 through March 8, 2024.

FY24 BOARD NOMINEE QUALIFICATIONS Since 2006, the North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC) has served as the primary forum and membership organization for quitline professionals. NAQC provides leadership and a unified voice to promote the effectiveness and reach of quitlines to health leaders and the public. Quitlines continue to evolve and are experiencing many changes in the populations served, technology used, service models, and approaches to sustainability. NAQC seeks candidates for the Board who are innovative “difference makers” and who can help guide the quitline community through these changes, especially sustainability. NAQC’s Board focuses on business issues, including finance, legal issues, and strategic leadership, rather than on program development. Areas of interest for 2024 The Board is seeking candidates with particular expertise in one or more of the following areas: - Legal/finance/fiduciary responsibility and business acumen
- Sustainability of quitlines, including cost-sharing and public-private partnerships
- Board governance, policies and procedures
- Fundraising through donations, grants, and/or contracts to support NAQC’s mission
Candidates for the Board should: - Have senior-level experience, preferably executive experience
- Possess leadership skills
- Be strategic, innovative, and critical thinkers
- Display professional and collegial demeanor
About the Board Board members do not represent their employer or any specific constituency but instead work together to create a global vision for NAQC. We strive to have a Board that is diverse in terms of geography, race, ethnicity, and perspectives. Board members are committed to NAQC’s mission and values, contribute diverse viewpoints and cultural experiences, address health disparities, and fulfill fiduciary responsibilities. Board members are elected for 3-year terms and can be reelected (or reappointed) once for a total of six years of service. The annual time commitment for board members includes four meetings (usually 1-2 in-person meetings and 2-3 virtual meetings) plus meeting preparation time, travel time, and 2-10 hours of committee work. We ask directors to support the cost of their travel to Board meetings if this is an expense their employer will allow. Nominations Committee The Nominations Committee is responsible for recommending Board candidates and is made up of representatives from the current Board, NAQC's membership, and the CEO. The 2024 Committee members are: - Thomas Ylioja, PhD, MSW, Chair
- Nicole Aune, MPH
- Ellen Cartmell, MPA
- Patricia Nez Henderson, MD, MPH
- Karen Hudmon, DrPH, MS, PPh, CTTS
- Michelle Lynch, BA, CTTS
- Joyce Swetlick, MPH, CTTS
