Building Our Future Together: Membership Update on NAQC’s Strategic Plan 2030

Dear NAQC Members,

With great enthusiasm, we are pleased to announce the launch of NAQC Strategic Plan 2030. As we envision the future of commercial tobacco cessation in North America, the strength and impact of our consortium depend entirely on the dedication and leadership of you, our members, who champion innovation, collaboration, and inclusive service.

Over the past year, your feedback, concerns, and ideas shared through surveys, peer discussions, and direct outreach, have been integral in shaping a strategic plan that addresses uncertain funding, evolving commercial tobacco products, and ongoing health disparities.

Strategic Plan 2030 is anchored in three pillars:

1.     Modernization & Innovation

Quitlines need to modernize service delivery and data systems while responsibly adopting new technology. NAQC will support members with frameworks, guardrails, and peer learning to ensure innovation strengthens engagement and reach without compromising clinical effectiveness.

2.     Sustainability, Partnerships & Policy

Quitline programs are working to secure sustainable funding, strengthen their policy voice, and plan for fiscal uncertainty. Through return on investment (ROI) and value communication tools, scenario planning, and peer learning resources, NAQC will help build a financially resilient quitline consortium.

3.     Increasing Impact

Quitlines need to expand the visibility, reach, and responsiveness of services through coordinated promotion, strategic partnerships, and data-informed improvement. NAQC will convene members to share tools, promising practices, and community insights to increase impact where it matters most.

Together, these pillars establish quitlines as resilient, innovative, and impactful resources for communities across North America.

Now, more than ever, NAQC’s strength derives from our members’ collective commitment to advancing quitlines. Working together, we can sustain quitline services and deliver a healthier future for all.

Thank you for your partnership, leadership, and unwavering dedication to this vital work.

Best regards,

Thomas Ylioja, PhD, MSW
