Dear Colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s webinar, Developing and Testing Novel Tobacco Treatments for Adults with Opioid Use Disorder, held from 1:00–2:00 PM ET. We are especially grateful to our presenter, Dr. Joanna Streck, Assistant Professor in Psychiatry and in Medicine at Harvard Medical School, for sharing her expertise and emerging research with the NAQC community.

The session highlighted:

  • Unique considerations for smoking cessation among adults with concurrent OUD, including clinical, behavioral, and systems-level factors that influence treatment engagement and outcomes.
  • Findings from studies examining e‑cigarettes as a strategy to help adults with OUD reduce or replace cigarette smoking.
  • Promising peer‑delivered tobacco treatment interventions and how they may be integrated into existing OUD services and quitline partnerships.

If you were unable to attend or would like to revisit the discussion, the
webinar recording and slides are now available:

We encourage you to share these resources with colleagues, behavioral health partners, and others working to improve tobacco treatment for adults with opioid use disorder.

NAQC extends sincere thanks to Dr. Streck and to NAQC members who submitted questions and examples during the session, helping to ground the discussion in real-world quitline and treatment settings.

We hope this webinar and the accompanying materials support your ongoing efforts to expand and strengthen tobacco treatment options for adults with OUD.
