NAQC is excited to continue serving as a community partner and on the advisory board for the Wellcentiv Study, which is a five-year PCORI-funded study led by MI-ACRE faculty at the University of Michigan. The project evaluates Incentives2Quit, a promising program designed to complement existing quitline services and enhance access to evidence-based treatment among adults who smoke menthol cigarettes. The study aims to recruit 1,200 quitline participants who smoke menthol cigarettes from five states. According to NAQC’s Annual Survey of Quitlines, in fiscal year 2025, 9 state quitlines reporting offering at least some form of incentives to participants who use menthol products, 21 state quitlines conducted special outreach to those who use menthol cigarettes, and 42 state quitlines had a special protocol in place for individuals who use menthol products. Given the significant interest among quitlines in better serving individuals who use menthol cigarettes, NAQC will update the quitline community as the study progresses. If you have any questions about the study, please contact NAQC Research and Evaluation Manager Katie Mason (kmason@naquitline.org) or the University of Michigan project team at UM-Wellcentiv@med.umich.edu.
