Quitline Sustainability and Cost-Sharing Partnership Initiative Video Series

NAQC is pleased to present this video series to orient tobacco control program staff to the Sustainability and Cost-Sharing Partnership Initiative. This series of videos provides an overview of the Quitline Cost-Sharing Partnerships Initiative and resources, the State Cessation Environmental Assessment Worksheet, Options for Medicaid Partnerships, and Making the Case for Cost-Sharing. Resources for each video will be posted as supporting materials below each video.

 Learning Objectives for Session One:
  • Identify keys to successful collaborations for public-private partnerships with public and private insurers, large employers, and other organizations.
  • Describe work activities and processes involved in creating cost-sharing partnerships.
  • Understand the resources available through NAQC to support state tobacco control programs in creating cost-sharing partnerships.

 Learning Objectives for Session Two:
  • Identify key components of conducting a State Cessation Environmental Assessment
  • Explore the online resources to assist with locating the information needed to complete the State Cessation Environmental Assessment Worksheet.
  • Describe key stakeholders and prioritize them for partnership work.

Learning Objectives for Session Three:
  • Describe the two major approaches to Medicaid partnerships for quitline services.
  •  Recognize the CMS guidance to state Medicaid agencies regarding use of the administrative match for quitline counseling services.
  • Identify the pros and cons to Medicaid Managed Care contracts with the Tobacco Control Program versus MCO direct contracts with the quitline service provider.
  • Use NAQC resources to navigate Medicaid partnerships for quitline services coverage.
