The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recruiting for a permanent Director for the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP). The position was most recently held by Dr. Ursula Bauer.
The incumbent of this executive-level position will:
• Lead and manage the various center program areas to achieve the stated agency and center goals and objectives.
• Develop long range plans and the justifications for resources necessary for the organization including the proper internal allocation of resources.
• Advance the state of the science in their respective field and program through intramural and extramural research and development.
• Develop and maintain high quality medical, scientific and technical competence in the center and assure that the center's actions and programs reflect scientific integrity as well as operational effectiveness.
• Assure the center's operations are carried out in consonance with the general guidelines of the federal service and are in conformity with the policies of HHS and CDC.
• Plan and conduct collaborative studies with the World Health Organization, the Pan American Health Organization; state and local health departments; other federal, state and local government agencies; industry and labor groups; academia; etc.
• Provide leadership and oversight of the center's prevention programs, public health surveillance, applied research and service activities and assure that appropriate priorities are set.
• Ensure that the center's science and information disseminated is of high quality, reliability, objectivity, and integrity.
