WEBINAR: New FDA Rule & Prohibition on Light/Low Cigarettes
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Please join the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association, the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and Legacy for a nationwide call to discuss the major provisions of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act that goes into effect on June 22—and how this will impact your state and community. This is the one year anniversary of the day President Obama signed the Tobacco Control Act into law and this date triggers a number of important provisions.
On June 22nd, the following will take effect:
- Final FDA rule regarding marketing and advertising of tobacco products, including federal enforcement of youth access provisions;
- Prohibition of light/low/mild and other health descriptors of existing cigarettes and smokeless products;
- Larger, stronger warning labels on smokeless tobacco packages and ads.
The Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Tobacco Products has been invited to give opening remarks on this call. There will also be time at the end of the call for Q&A.
