Some of you may be aware that HHS will announce the government’s new tobacco prevention and cessation efforts this week. We anticipate that quitlines will be a component of the HHS efforts. NAQC will attend the HHS announcement and will provide more information via email on Wednesday. Here’s what we know to date:
On Wednesday, November 10, 2010 Secretary Sebelius and other leaders at HHS will announce the government’s new tobacco prevention and cessation efforts. Reducing the nation’s tobacco use rate – and preventing people from starting in the first place – is a top public health priority for the Administration. Kathleen Sebelius, HHS Secretary Howard K. Koh, MD, MPH, HHS Assistant Secretary for Health Margaret A. Hamburg, MD, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner
