NAQC pre-NCTOH Workshop Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to share the workshop recordings and the interim guide titled, Project CONNECT: An Implementation Guide for Quitlines. Lung cancer remains the number one cancer-related cause of death among both men and women in the United States and quitlines can play a role in decreasing the number of deaths from lung cancer by educating quitline participants about lung cancer screening.
Project CONNECT is an implementation project that involves partnerships between The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (MD Anderson), North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC), quitline service providers, and quitline funders to increase the awareness of lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography among quitline participants.
On June 8 NAQC hosted a workshop where participants learned about the importance of lung cancer screening education and the role that quitlines can play in expanding the reach of this critical service and saving lives (see recording and slides from session one). Participants also heard the real-world experiences of state funders and quitline service providers that integrated lung cancer screening (LCS) education into their quitline operations as part of the ProjectConnect implementation research study (see recording and slides from session two). The accompanying implementation guide is designed to help quitline funders and service providers learn what it takes to educate quitline participants about lung cancer screening. We hope that you find the recording and the guide useful. We welcome any feedback on the guide or any questions you may have about moving forward. The final guide will be released in late 2022 when additional cost data will be available.
Thank you
