February 25 TCN Virtual Event: Using Medicaid Data to Reach Priority Populations

This Tobacco Control Network virtual event will be divided into two parts – first, a case study presentation from King County health agency staff that will include a detailed overview of the data analysis methodology, and findings from their analysis of Medicaid claims and eligibility data to identify Medicaid members who use tobacco in King County. Second, the ASTHO team will host a listening session to better understand the challenges that staff in other state and local tobacco control programs might be facing in leveraging Medicaid data, with the intention of tailoring future resources and technical assistance. Learning Objectives - Learn more about the work of health agency staff in King County, WA to leverage Medicaid data to better reach priority populations with effective tobacco cessation strategies.
- Better understand how the successes and lessons learned in King County can inform similar efforts in state and local health agencies around the country to leverage Medicaid data in the targeted execution of equity promoting tobacco control interventions.
- Hear from other health agency representatives around the country about what resources and technical assistance might be most helpful to replicate the processes and results of King County.
