On
December 7, 2011, the American Lung Association will be releasing its fourth
annual Helping Smokers Quit: Tobacco
Cessation Coverage 2011 report. This report provides an overview of
smoking cessation services and treatments offered in each state by Medicaid,
Medicare, state employee plans, quitlines and private insurance. It also
discusses past and future federal government actions to help smokers quit.
This
year, the report will feature a list of the Ten Most Quit-Friendly States and
Ten Least Quit-Friendly States. The report is a great resource to focus media
and policymaker attention on cessation coverage policies. You can read last
year’s report here.
You
are invited to join us for a Webinar on the release date. We will discuss the
findings, focus of this year’s report, and 2011 trends. Please share this
invitation with staff, volunteers and tobacco control partners you think would
be interested.
