Early Estimates for Adult Cigarette Smoking from CDC’s National Health Interview Survey.

				On May 23, 2016, CDC’s National Center for Health Statistics released early estimates for 15 selected health measures, including current adult cigarette smoking, based on data from the 2015 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). These early release data are being published prior to final data editing and weighting. For 2015, 15.1% of adults 18 years and older were current cigarette smokers. This is lower than the 2014 NHIS estimate of 16.8%.
