Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday's MMWR publication is of special interest to those of us who work on tobacco cessation. An article published by our colleagues at CDC/OSH shows that smokers continue to have a consistently high interest in quitting and it also shows that important benchmarks for cessation, including “past-year quit attempt”, “recent smoking cessation”, “use of counseling and/or medications for cessation”, and “received advice to quit from health professional”, have increased or remained stable in 2015 compared to 2010 and 2005.  As we head into the 2017 Tips Campaign, there is a great opportunity to keep these statistics moving in the right direction by promoting cessation and continuing to provide high quality cessation treatment through quitlines.

We encourage you to read this article and share it with others.
