Health Groups Seek Financial Penalties for Tobacco Companies

Six
public health groups that
have been granted intervenor status in the DoJ lawsuit against the
tobacco
companies filed a petition asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review the
Appeals Court decision restricting the remedies that could be
imposed on
the tobacco companies as result of their violations of the RICO Act. The Department
of Justice also announced that it is appealing the decision. learn more
