The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF, Task Force) today posted for public comment a draft research plan on interventions for tobacco cessation in adults, including pregnant women. NAQC encourages you to review the draft research plan and submit comments. Comments can be submitted from March 15, 2018 through April 11, 2018 on the Task Force Web site. Members of the Task Force carefully review all submitted comments and take them into consideration when finalizing the research plan, evidence review, and the recommendation statement. By soliciting outside input, the Task Force ensures that the final recommendation is relevant and useful to health professionals, patients, and family members.

If you have not already done so, sign up for the USPSTF email list to receive updates about opportunities for public comment on interventions for tobacco cessation in adults, including pregnant women and other topics, and notifications of when final materials are published on the Task Force Web site. Future announcements about this topic will only be available via the USPSTF email list and our Web site.

The Task Force is an independent, volunteer panel of national experts in prevention and evidence-based medicine that works to improve the health of all Americans by making evidence-based recommendations about clinical preventive services such as screenings, counseling services, and preventive medications.
