Tobacco use results in 11,800 deaths annually in NJ adults, with 143,000 children under the age of 18 predicted to die prematurely due to smoking. Each year, tobacco use accounts for $4.06 billion in health care costs ($1.17 billion paid for by NJ Medicaid) and $3.15 billion in lost productivity.
