The House policy riders to exempt so-called “large and premium cigars” from FDA oversight and to change the “grandfather date” in order to exempt e-cigarettes, cigars, and other tobacco products from an FDA product review requirement were NOT included in the final FY18 bill released last night. CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health will be funded at $210 million for FY18, a $5 million increase from FY 17 levels and a significant improvement from the $50 million cut proposed in the House LHHS bill.
