Networking2Save: CDCs National Network Approach to Preventing and Controlling Tobacco-related Cancer

CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health (OSH) and Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) announced the recipients of ‘Networking2Save: CDCs National Network Approach to Preventing and Controlling Tobacco-related Cancers in Special Populations’ funding opportunity. Through this joint funding opportunity, they aim to expand their work in addressing tobacco- and cancer-related health disparities with the following national networks:    

1.     Asian Pacific Partners for Empowerment and Leadership - Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Island populations

2.     Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America- Geographically defined populations

3.     Inter-Tribal Council of Michigan, Inc.- American Indian and Alaska Native Populations

4.     National African American Tobacco Prevention Network, Inc. - African American populations

5.     National Alliance for Hispanic Health – Hispanic populations

6.     National Council for Behavioral Health – Individuals with mental health and substance use disorders

7.     National LGBT Cancer Network- Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, and transgender populations

8.     Patient Advocate Foundation – Individuals with low socio-economic status

Each national network will focus on training and technical assistance; engagement of priority populations in national, state, tribal, territorial interventions; and mass-reach health communications that complement OSH, DCPC, and other CDC-funded chronic disease programs.
