				CDC/OSH, in partnership
with the National Cancer Institute (NCI), created a national texting portal to
connect people with texting cessation services. The portal routes people seeking
help quitting smoking to their state quitlines’ existing texting cessation
services. For states that do not have texting cessation services, the new
portal routes people to SmokefreeTXT, NCI’s texting program. A four-week pilot
of the portal in 10 states began on May 24, and will run until June 20. It is being promoted with
geofenced digital video ads on Facebook and YouTube. The goal is to apply
learnings toward a future national promotion. More updates will be available
shortly.
