By 2030 all baby boomer will be at least 65 years old.  Although there are less older adults smoking now, the aging population will certainly increase the numbers of those that need cessation services. This presentation will discuss the barriers and stigma  that the aged population face when quitting tobacco, and the empathic approaches to beak through those barriers to best help this population.
Goals and Objectives:

  1. Identify the health effects associated with smoking in older adults
  2. Recall factors to consider when teaching older adults
  3. Describe what we can do to help this population with ongoing cessation efforts
