New Smoking Cessation Telehealth Application Launched in the UK
July 8, 2011 - Solutions 4 Health announced the launch of a new smoking cessation telehealth application called "smokefreelife” that provides smokers with online support from trained smoking cessation providers. Patients who want to interact with a trained health advisor can select an appointment time that suits them for a face-to-face video consultation. The application also notifies patients which advisors are currently online and available for immediate consultation. Patients can select their advisor based on additional details, such as the language the advisor speaks and their respective qualifications, giving them an informed choice about who they interact with. Microsoft HealthVault will provide storage for patient information used by smokefreelife, which the patient can access any time and share with their advisors. Patients can login to their smokfreelife account, which provides them with a dashboard detailing their carbon monoxide level readings and treatment history. "Telehealth is proving to be one of the most significant changes to healthcare in the UK, as it provides patients with an alternative method to managing their health and will play an important role in the future,” said Professor Robert West, one of the UK's leading experts on smoking cessation.
