Maya Vijayaraghavan, MD, MAS, Director of the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center, is a co-author of a new paper published in the latest edition of JMR Formative Research titled “Digital Smoking Cessation Preferences of Predominately Low-Income and Latino Residents of the San Joaquin Valley in California: Qualitative Study.” Although rates of tobacco use in California have declined overall, adults in the San Joaquin Valley, particularly Hispanic or Latinos, have disproportionately high rates of tobacco use, tobacco-related illness, and mortality. To understand if digital health tools present an accessible approach to expand cessation support, the authors explored tobacco use behaviors, cessation experiences, and views about digital cessation tools for tobacco cessation among San Joaquin Valley residents.
