In addition to releasing regular e-cigarette and nicotine pouch sales data briefs, the CDC Foundation also produces an annual cigarette sales data brief. The brief describes cigarette sales trends for the entire U.S. and for select states with flavored tobacco sales restrictions, comparing periods before and after policy implementation. These states include California and Massachusetts, which prohibit the sale of most non‑tobacco‑flavored tobacco products (including menthol cigarettes and flavored e‑cigarettes), and New York and Rhode Island, which restrict the sale of most flavored e‑cigarettes but do not limit sales of other flavored tobacco products.
