The new 2026 Tobacco Control Implementation Guides from CPHSS/WashU are a multi‑state, multi‑partner initiative that strengthens tobacco control implementation, equity, and sustainability across North America. They offer a timely, equity‑focused toolkit and an implementation resource for tobacco control partners. The publication of these guides was coordinated by the North American Quitline Consortium (NAQC) with support from the American Lung Association, MaineHealth, National Jewish Health, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, and RVO Health, and with funding from state tobacco control programs in Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

The Closing the Gap: A Tobacco Control User Guide provides practical strategies to reduce tobacco‑related inequities, helping programs identify and address disparities in commercial tobacco use and access to cessation services.

The Program Sustainability: A Tobacco Control User Guide focuses on long‑term impact, offering frameworks for sustaining tobacco control efforts through funding, partnerships, and integration into broader public health work.

The Tobacco in Your Community briefs are concise, community‑oriented pieces: Menthol and Other Flavors explains how flavored products drive use and outlines policy and community action options, while Advancing LGBTQ+ Health highlights tailored approaches to tobacco control in LGBTQ+ communities, emphasizing inclusive and equity‑oriented strategies.
