As states begin receiving their supplemental-funding Notices of Award, NAQC is working with partners to support effective planning, coordination, and implementation of tobacco-control media activities. Contracting and implementation webinar NAQC and the TCN Media Network will co-host a special 90-minute webinar for state tobacco-control staff focused on planning for contracting and implementation. The session will cover practical considerations, best practices, and lessons learned related to developing scopes of work, planning and purchasing media campaigns, and evaluating campaign activities. This webinar was announced directly to states. Additional TCN Media Network webinars will be announced soon. CDC Tips 2027 procurement CDC has issued a procurement for a new Tips From Former Smokers® media campaign. NAQC will share relevant updates with members as they become available, including anticipated campaign timing and resources that can help states and quitlines prepare for increased demand. Call and texting data New data from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) are expected soon. NAQC will keep members informed when updated data are posted and when there are changes to reporting frequency, with the goal of ensuring timely data access during upcoming media campaigns. NCI and NAQC trend analyses for 1-800-QUIT-NOW, 1-855-DEJELO-YA, and the National Texting Portal are currently available through the July 2025 service period. Members can review prior reports on NAQC’s National Cessation Services Data webpage. Upcoming state updates In preparation for the upcoming implementation of CDC supplemental media funding, states were asked to review and confirm that their National Texting Portal routing information is accurate and up to date. This information was sent to state tobacco control programs with a response deadline of September 14. Additional updates on the texting portal, along with new related creative resources from the Media Campaign Resource Center (MCRC), will be shared with NAQC members as they become available. To support coordination during this period, NAQC is convening separate monthly discussions with tobacco control staff, quitline service providers, and media companies. These conversations are intended to surface operational questions, share emerging lessons, strengthen communication across partners, and identify topics that should be elevated across the broader tobacco-control and quitline community. If you would like to join these discussions, please let us know at membership@naquitline.org.
